Little Alien

Little Alien started life as an abandoned mannequin. After cleaning years of neglect she was opened up by way of a Bosch hand tool. Then a paint layer, then another and another and another!! A wooden base was applied to the bottom for the fitting of some very tall hairpin legs. I made a wire shade and fitted an animal skull which I painted to the back, this gives such an amazing projection on the wall. Finally a long tubular bulb and here she is. Little Alien so very cool and quirky! The only one in the world! www.melsartlamps.com

The Missing

Inspired by everything that is hurtful about missing. The mannequin footlights are so great for maximum drama in a small precious space. The shade and tree made from plaster bandages a little missing figure nestles on a branch with a box of golden buttons. Charismatic and strange.

167E00B3-C8CD-4AF9-A889-F923DB25EA73.MOV I have loved working on this little Japanese musical box. In it's original state the panels were mirrors and were badly frosted. I took all of the box apart, and replaced the mirrored panels for new panels I painted on rice paper. She now has a beautiful theatrical feel going on her journey with the wheels turning to swan lake. The  oblong shade fits perfectly and keeps the little drawers free to use for precious items. She has been sold now, and will journey off to her new home where I am sure she will be cherished. Goodbye little...

The Elevated T Caddy

The Elevated Tea Caddy has now been installed it looked fantastichanging above a beautiful old oak dining table. Just to add some glamour I had a box of crystal decanter stoppers. I pushed these into the metal grid of the potato sifter. The caught the light and added some magic. My client loved it here's some images of the finished lamp.
