The Battle of The Ancient Oak  A reimagined vintage etching. In the right hand corner is part of Old Nobbley an ancient Essex oak tree, voted one of Englands most charismatic oaks 800 years old . 

During lockdown I 've been working on my series Through the Window. Inspired by viewing everything through some kind of mask or screen. This painting is oil on canvas photographed and printed onto Hahnumule bamboo paper.

We all seem to be viewing the world behind a wall or a window in this sad pandemic of Covid 19. Because i can't photograph anything at the moment I have been trawling through the many shoots that I have in my back catalogue.  I wanted to express an air of beauty and pathos with the unreality of all that is happening in this strange new world.
