I've loved making this one to the music of Frida in the background of my studio. A bit of relief in lockdown to make something joyous and free. 

Little Alien started life as an abandoned mannequin. After cleaning years of neglect she was opened up by way of a Bosch hand tool. Then a paint layer, then another and another and another!! A wooden base was applied to the bottom for the fitting of some very tall hairpin legs. I made a wire shade and fitted an animal skull which I painted to the back, this gives such an amazing projection on the wall. Finally a long tubular bulb and here she is. Inspired by everything that is hurtful about missing. The mannequin footlights are so great for maximum drama in a small precious space. The shade and tree made from plaster bandages a little missing figure nestles on a branch with a box of golden buttons. Charismatic and strange.

Broken Braches inspired by broken relationships. Having cut out the outline of the tree I used the cutout parts to sit inside the holes as 3 dimensional branches Then I gold leafed the inside which looks beautiful when lit. On tall hairpin legs a very elegant shape

A 1950's Mannequin was given to me by my friend Anne Black a serious collector of beautiful reclaimed things. It sat around for at least 6 months. Then after the UK Election, I started working on her and realised stripped from the vintage make-up and breasts she was quite androgynous. Cracked Planet! there is no denying we all need to do our bit to help climate change and be kinder to each other, especially the bankers and politicians.
